Flash Post: Groupbook
What It Is:Customized printed photo albums are not exactly new, but they do make pretty special gifts. You can use them to commemorate a milestone in your life – like your first year as newlyweds, a new grandchild, a special occasion or trip, the journey from Kindergarten to graduation, or even a beloved pet – and they make for a heartfelt gift that carries some emotional significance you simply can’t buy off the shelf.
But here’s what is new about today’s gift idea, Manitoba-based GroupBook. Instead of going it alone, you can make the art of pulling together memories a memory in and of itself. GroupBook ties right into Facebook, making it easy to access your hordes of photos and share progress on your book as you work on it. GroupBook also allows you to invite friends and family members to contribute photos and help with the design of your book. Let’s say you’re gifting mom and dad a catalogue of your childhood and their marriage for their 25th anniversary – get your siblings in on the act by adding in their own snaps. Or maybe the bridesmaids are teaming up to share their friendship with the bride as a so-sweet wedding gift – no matter what time zone you’re in, wedding parties around the world can band together to craft a special book.
On that note, the GroupBook editor makes it crazy easy to create just about any type of book you can imagine – including a literal book like the look & learn alphabet for tots pictured above. The drag-and-drop editor allows you to customize every last detail: from photo layouts to scrapbook-style clipart to backgrounds and more. You can go as in-depth or as templated as you want – either way the result is wholly one-of-a-kind, and collaborative.
Who It’s For:Your sibling that you’re serving as Maid of Honour or Best Man for, to use as their wedding guestbook. Your wife, to track your first five years of marriage, homeowning, and family life together. Your grandma, to show her what a big, beautiful family she’s created.
What It Costs:I’m focusing on GroupBook’s photobooks in this post, but they do have a bevy of products. The photobooks however, start $13.99 for a 20-page book.
Where It’s At:GroupBook.ca, naturally!
Want to start making memories? I’m giving a reader a $30 gift code to spend on GroupBook, which will give you the chance to take the collaborative social software for a spin yourself. Here’s how to enter:
1) Leave a comment by December 15th with which GroupBook product you’d spend your voucher on if you won, plus what you’d create!
2) Entries are limited to one per person / per email address / per household (or more if you score bonus entries). A random draw will be conducted on or around December 16th to select the winner, who will have 48 hours to respond before another winner is chosen in their place.
3) Entries are limited to Canadians that have reached the age of majority in their province. Quebec is not eligible to participate in this promotion.
4) Bonus Entry: Like or follow GroupBook on Twitter / Facebook for two bonus entries! Sign up for an account with GroupBook (it’s free) for another two bonus entries! If you’re selected as the winner based on signing up for GroupBook, I’ll be verifying with them that you have signed up for an account, so stay honest folks.
The voucher would be great to put towards making some posters for both the home office, and for our group @ work too. Thank you – http://print.groupbook.ca/Products/MCPosters/Default.aspx .
